Join the leaders in training older adults
Are you a qualified exercise professional with a keen interest in working with older people? Becoming a Living Longer Living Stronger instructor is a great opportunity to help people aged over 50 to improve their strength and balance, and to make a difference in your community.
Living Longer Living Stronger is an evidence-based strength and balance exercise program designed with universities, health professionals and people over 50 themselves. It will help older people stay strong, active and socially connected, and may be particularly beneficial for those who might otherwise feel isolated or unable to exercise.
Start your journey to become an accredited Living Longer Living Stronger instructor by enrolling in COTA NSW’s accreditation course.
The training is open to fitness professionals (holding a Certificate III and/or IV in Fitness), exercise physiologists and physiotherapists. It is delivered across two tiers – tier one is for exercise physiologists and physiotherapists, and tier two is for fitness professionals.
The course is approved by Fitness Australia for 14 Continuing Education Credits (CECs). For people registered with Exercise and Sport Science Australia (ESSA), the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) and the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), we will provide a letter detailing the hours of professional development involved and the content covered.
The training includes two online modules taken through our learning management system and a one-day face-to-face practical module. You also receive a suite of digital and hard copy resources as part of your course participation.
