Karen has specialised in examining the policies and issues that impact older Australians in NSW at Council on the Ageing (COTA) for over six years. Her role encompasses research, advocacy and consultation with older people, government and other stakeholders to ensure the needs and aspirations of older people are addressed.

Karen has extensive community development experience in the areas of ageing, disability and youth, including social research and planning. ​She has a Master of Gerontology (Policy) degree.
