COTA NSW welcomes the appointment of the new Age Discrimination Commissioner. Dr Kay Patterson will succeed the current Commissioner, Susan Ryan AO, in August.

“Commissioner Ryan has pushed issues related to age, ageing and ageism much higher on the political agenda during her tenure as Commissioner. We hope that Dr Patterson continues in this vein,” said COTA NSW CEO Ian Day.

Mr Day also praised the decision to once again appoint a Commissioner for  Age Discrimination and for Disability. “These areas are complex and require the attention of a full-time Commissioner. We’re pleased to see that the Government has recognised this and will no longer combine these roles.”
