COTA NSW often receives requests from media representatives who want to speak to people over 50. We receive requests from producers and journalists who are eager to hear from older people about their perceptions of policy changes that are being publicly debated, such as increases in age at which people are eligible for the age pension, or the changing nature of retirement.
COTA NSW is keen to ensure that the views and opinions of older people are more widely covered by the mainstream media, so we’re always trying to expand the numbers of people in our pool of media contacts. You don’t need to have any prior experience dealing with the media, or in public speaking, to be a COTA NSW media contact, you simply need to be willing to consider sharing your views and experiences from time to time.
